Get Your Business Online
Creating economic development opportunities for businesses both large and small is an important part of the Mayor’s job. For those of you who have a business of your own or know of someone who does, the following may be of interest to you. Businesses that use the web are expected to grow 40% faster than those that don’t? That’s why it’s so important for small businesses to have a website. There are many companies in Little Rock who can help small businesses create a website and provide web hosting. In addition to our great local companies that provide this service, the US Conference of Mayors has teamed up with Google to provide another option to make small businesses stronger in Little Rock. So, if you’re a small business owner who needs a website -- or you know of a business that does -- check out Google’s Get Your Business Online program today atwww.gybo.com.
There are no qualifications for businesses to sign up for the program. The domain name and hosting for the business website is free for one year. After the first year of free service, you will automatically be billed $6.99 per month if you register a domain, or $4.99 per month if you did not sign up for a domain. This is a very cost effective way to maintain your website and expand your business growth.
Getting online may seem like a huge challenge, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. In fact, Google’s Get Your Business Online program makes it quick, easy, free and it only takes about an hour.
Here’s all you need to do:
1. Go to GYBO.comand create an account with Google, and their partner Homestead -- that just means choosing a username and password.
2. Choose a design—Homestead’s done the hard part by creating the designs. You just need to pick the one you like best. You will be asked what kind of business you have and they will offer you several different designs to choose from.
3. Upload a photo or two such as product photos and key personnel photos-- don’t worry, you can change the photos later.
4. Write a brief description of what your business does, your hours, and how your customers can contact you.You can add more information later if you wish.
5. Choose a domain name for your business-- something simple like joescoffee.com works best.
You can always make improvements by signing back into your Homestead account later. What’s important is getting your site up and running so customers can find you!
