A “Haute Dogs & Kool Cats” luncheon will shine the spotlight on Little Rock Animal Services on Wednesday, August 10. It will take place from 11:30 to 12:30 in the Peabody Little Rock’s Grand Ballroom. Tickets for the luncheon will be available at the door.
Margaret Clark and Jane Hankins are co-chairing the luncheon, which is sponsored by
’s Animal Services Advisory Board. The event is hosted by the City’s “Top 100 Dogs and Cats.” Throughout the luncheon photos of the “Top 100” pets with their owners will be displayed on large screens.
The luncheon is being held to raise money for the new
. Ground is expected to be broken in October on this new facility located on Kramer Street near the Jack Stephens First Tee golf course. Although $1.2 million for the facility was overwhelmingly approved by
voters in November 2003 as a component of the Capitol Bond program, an additional $600,000 is needed to offer further services at the new facility.
“As we started planning for the
, we became aware of many innovative services for animals that other cities offered. In planning and designing this new building, we decided to go ahead and raise funds to get these additional services now instead of waiting for several years,” said City Director Joan Adcock.
