LITTLE ROCK’S NEW MAYOR AND CITY DIRECTORS TO TAKE OATHS OF OFFICE ON JANUARY 1
Public Invited to Inauguration and Reception
Little Rock, AR (29 December 2006). January 1st not only marks the start of a new year, it marks the beginning of terms for seven City of Little Rock officials. Mark Stodola will begin his first term as Little Rock’s 72nd Mayor. Erma Fingers Hendrix, Stacy Hurst, Michael Keck, Ken Richardson, Doris Jones Wright, and B. J. Wyrick will be sworn-in to terms on the Little Rock City Board of Directors.
The inauguration ceremony will take place in the rotunda of Little Rock City Hall at 9:00 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Following the ceremony, a reception will be held at the Arkansas Arts Center from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Those who cannot attend the ceremony will be able to watch the live broadcast on LRTV, the City’s government access channel located on Comcast 11, south of the Arkansas River.
Stodola returns to City Hall after having served as Little Rock’s City Attorney from 1985 through 1990. He was subsequently elected to three terms as Prosecuting Attorney for the Sixth Judicial District which consists of Pulaski and Perry County.
Ken Richardson and Doris Jones Wright will begin their first terms on the City Board of Directors. Erma Fingers Hendrix served on the Board previously in 1993 and 1994. Stacy Hurst started her service on the board in 2003, Michael Keck commenced his service in 1993, and B. J. Wyrick began her Board service in 1995.
Little Rock City Hall is located at 500 West Markham Street. Due to staging for the ceremony, the Markham Street doors to the rotunda will be locked. The public is encouraged to enter City Hall from Broadway or from the City Hall parking lot behind the building. The Arkansas Arts Center is located at 10th and Commerce Streets in MacArthur Park.
