Competitive Grants Development

The city has practiced a regional collaborative approach seeking competitive grants. The City successfully collaborated with North Little Rock, Pulaski County, and University of Arkansas at Little Rock to receive a designation as a Round III 2002-2009 Urban Empowerment Zone by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and a Phase I Brownfield Redevelopment Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

During 2004, the regional grant approach was utilized to collaborate with North Little Rock, Pulaski County to win a $300,000 Phase II Brownfield Redevelopment Grant and complete an application for a $3,000,000 EPA Brownfield Revolving Loan Fund for downtown Little Rock, North Little Rock and Pulaski County.
