The five (5)-person River Market Design Review Committee (DRC) was appointed by the Little Rock City Board of Directors in 1996 to protect the ''visual integrity'' of the River Market District. Simultaneously, the River Market Design Overlay District was created to provide a festive, pedestrian-oriented area with a quality mixture of commercial, office and residential uses.
The River Market Design Review Committee reviews proposed changes to the outside of structures with the River Market Overlay District. Applications must be filed with City Staff at 723 West Markham Street. The Review Committee meets on the second Tuesday of the month. If a variance is required the Committee will make a recommendation to the Little Rock Board of Adjustment or Planning Commission.
