Board of Adjustment
The Little Rock Board of Adjustment was created by Little Rock Code of Ordinances, Section 36-66 et seq. - Ordinance #13,777. Its five (5) members serve three (3)-year terms. The duties of the board are to consider requests for variances from the requirements set forth in the City''s Zoning Ordinance and to consider appeals of administrative decisions relating to the Zoning Ordinance. Members of the Board of Adjustment are appointed by the Little Rock Board of Directors and consist of one (1) architect/planner, one (1) engineer, one (1) member of the Little Rock Board of Realtors, and two (2) at-large members.
The Little Rock Board of Adjustment meets the last Monday of each month at 2:00 PM in the Board Chambers at Little Rock City Hall.
Overview
The Board of Adjustment hears appeals from staff decisions in respect to enforcement and application of the Zoning Ordinance. The Board may grant variances from strict enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance. The Board of Adjustment may not permit any use in a zone that is not permitted under the Zoning Ordinance.

Composition and Appointment:
This Board is composed of five (5) members appointed by the Board of Directors to serve three (3)-year terms. The terms are overlapped to assure an experienced quorum at all times. There are four (4) positions by Ordinance. These are one (1) Architect/Planner, one (1) Civil Engineer, one (1) member of the Little Rock Real Estate Board, and one (1) member of the Sign Industry. The remaining one (1) is at large.
