Inclusiveness on Boards and Commissions
It is the goal of the City of Little
Rock, Arkansas, that the Mayor, with confirmation by the City Board of
Directors, shall make diligent efforts to appoint citizens of Little
Rock to City Boards and Commissions so these bodies meet the goal of
inclusiveness by reflecting the diversity of our City, recognizing that
this goal may be impacted by Board and Commission positions that are
designated by professions, organizations or by Ward representation.
UPDATE: Applications for all City's Boards and Commissions can now be submitted at any time, whether or not there are current vacancies. All applications will be kept on file for two (2) years and in the event a vacancy occurs on the Board or Commission in which you applied, your application will be forwarded to the Little Rock City Board of Directors for consideration.

Commission on Children, Youth and Families
The Little Rock Commission on Children, Youth and Families was created by Ordinance #18,673 in April 2002, exclusively as an advisory commission, to be appointed by the Little Rock City Board of Directors, and to provide policy leadership and advocacy that improves the health, safety, education and quality of life of children, youth and families in Little Rock. It consists of eleven (11) members, representing the Little Rock City Board of Directors, the Little Rock School District, juvenile justice, public health, early childhood issues, domestic violence, substance abuse, and four (4) At-Large seats.
The Commission on Children, Youth and Families meets the first Wednesday of each month in Room 207 of the Willie L. Hinton Neighborhood Resource Center at 3805 West 12th Street at 11:15 AM.

| DUTIES: |
To create by-laws; to recommend to the Little Rock City Board of Directors, the City Manager and the Director of Community Programs such policies and best practices as the Commission believes will aid the City in the delivery of services to at risk children, youth, and families in Little Rock; to make funding priority recommendations to the Little Rock City Board of Directors, the City Manager, and the Director of Community Programs for expenditures for programs for children, youth, and families in Little Rock; to hold public meetings and forums as necessary; to make recommendations to the Little Rock City Board of Directors regarding proposed legislation at the local, state, and national level that affect children, youth, and families in Little Rock; and to appoint committees to assist the Commission in fulfilling its mission and discharging its duties.

Members are appointed by the Little Rock City Board of Directors and shall consist of the following:
One (1) Member of the Little Rock City Board of Directors
One (1) Member of the Little Rock School Board.
One (7) Members with considerable experience and background in developing policy level recommendations relating to children, youth and families, and representing areas of interest such as, but not limited to: child and adolescent development, juvenile justice , and mental health.
