Urban Forestry Mission
The Urban Forestry Division of the Little Rock Parks and Recreation
Department will continually work to ensure the health and safety of
trees growing in City parks and public places. Serving as a public
resource, the Urban Forestry Division will utilize community-based
educational programs to promote proper tree care practices and create an
awareness of the importance of trees to the environmental health and
beauty of Little Rock.
Urban Forestry Activities
The Urban Forestry Division of Parks and Recreation works closely
with community organizations and various City departments on
tree-related issues. Some of the activities and responsibilities
include:
- Planting trees in parks and public areas
- Maintaining mature trees in parks and public areas
- Removal and mitigation of dead or hazardous trees
- Maintaining Tree City U.S.A. Certification
- Performing tree inventories at parks and public areas
- Conducting Youth Arbor Day celebrations
- Administering the E.N.A.C.T. neighborhood program
- Promoting Project Learning Tree activities at schools
- Monitoring Urban Forestry ordinances for public trees
- Assisting City Departments with tree related issues
- Serving as an informational resource to the community
