What: Mayor’s Car Free Challenge Bus Tutorial

When: Thursday, September 27th – 11:30-1:30

Where: River Market Pavilions

Mayor Mark Stodola is challenging Little Rock residents to put their cars in park and leave them that way for one week. The 2nd Annual Mayor’s Car Free Challenge officially begins Monday, October 1st. In preparation for this week, the Central Arkansas Transit Authority will bring one of its buses to the River Market Pavilions tomorrow, Thursday, September 27th from 11:30-1:30 to answer any questions residents may have about riding the bus including:

  • How to put your bike on a bus
  • How to find bus schedules
  • Where to buy tickets
  • And many more

“Little Rock offers its residents many ways to travel through the City and this week long challenge is a great way to try them out,” said Mayor Stodola.  “Taking the bus or riding your bike is good for the environment and your waistline!  I would like to personally encourage all citizens to put away your car keys for just one week and find out how easy and satisfying this can be.”

The Mayor will kick off his car free week by taking the bus to City Hall on October 1st.  Mayor Stodola will get on the bus between 8:15-8:30 a.m. at the bus stop on the corner of Kavanaugh and Fillmore Streets. Upon arrival at 500 West Markham, Mayor Stodola will help pass out free straps that can be used to keep pants from getting caught in a bicycle chain.
