100 Best Fleets of North America
The City of Little Rock Fleet Services Department has received National recognition as the 7th ranked fleet of North America in 2007, as rated by the 100 Best Fleets of North America Program. Considering there are over 38,000 public fleets, this is a significant accomplishment.
The City Board of Directors and the City Manager’s Office acknowledged the staff of the Fleet Services Department on May 27, 2008, with the presentation of the 100 Best Fleets certificate, as well as a standing ovation.
The Fleet Services Department is very proud of this accomplishment. This Department has a team minded spirit and dedication that is truly inspiring.
Department Mission Statement:
To provide cost efficient, quality vehicles, work equipment, fuel, vehicle storage and other fleet support services to our customers in a timely, environmentally friendly atmosphere. We seek to maintain a safe and wholesome work environment and opportunity for all employees while being frugal with the citizens of Little Rock tax dollars.
Services Provided:
Fleet Services is responsible for management of all vehicles and motorized equipment in the City's fleet. The City owns approximately 1,300 pieces of equipment, which are purchased, fueled, maintained and disposed of by the Fleet Services Department. This Department operates three (3) vehicle maintenance facilities and 10 automated, key/code-accessible fuel sites, in addition to a large Vehicle Storage Facility operating around the clock.
Fleet Services provides loaner vehicles for down units, courtesy vehicles for use by City Departments, fueling services, and maintenance for all City vehicles and equipment. Rental vehicles are also available to City Departments for short-term and seasonal needs.
Fleet Services also provides impoundment services through the Vehicle Storage Facility. This facility offers a weekly auction of abandoned and unclaimed vehicles, as well as City vehicles that have been removed from the City inventory.
