The Board of Commissioners, Central Arkansas Water (CAW), was created by Arkansas Code Annotated 25-20-301-Little Rock City Code 35-26. Its seven (7) members serve seven (7)-year terms. Commissioners have full and complete authority to manage, operate, improve, extend and maintain the water works and distribution system for the cities of Little Rock and North Little Rock, and have full and complete charge of the water plan. Vacancies are filled by nominations from the remaining Commissioners, subject to confirmation by the Little Rock City Board of Directors and the North Little Rock City Council.
The Central Arkansas Water Commission meets the second Thursday of each month at 2:00 PM in the 3rd Floor Board Room of the Capitol Avenue Water Utility Building, which is located at 221 East Capitol Avenue.
